Leicester consists of a diverse community of 280,000 people. In 2001, people of Asian origin formed the largest single ethnic group in the city, forming 30% of the total population, compared to a national average of 4%. This figure ranks Leicester as having the largest Indian population of any local authority area in England and Wales. For the past 27 years, Leicester has hosted the largest Diwali celebrations west of Mumbai.

The Hindu festival of Dashera takes place in October in which 10-headed effigies of King Ravana are set alight to celebrate the victory of good over evil.

Lucy Peel seeks six Leicester based artists to interview & film in order to create a video diary from their artistic activities.
Each visit to a location of the artist’s choice would occur within a 2 week window (to give a wide range of possible dates), with 4 weeks of preparation between visits.
There would be 8 visits over a period of 1 year.
